The resource room has been transformed since the pictures above were taken in 2007. The shelves now have books on the top shelf and NKF leaflets on the rest of them. There is a desk next to the shelves for a computer

Where is the Resource Room?
The resource room is in the Renal Outpatients. Moving from the waiting area it is on the right just past the Reception desk

When is the Resource Room Open?
The Resource Room will be open during the working day. If it is locked the key is held in the RCIU room at the end of the corridor.

What Resources Are Available?
  1. A good selection of books on understanding and living with chronic kidney disease (CKD). These can be borrowed by patients and carers on the understanding they are returned as soon as they have been read. Borrowers should sign them out at the RCIU unit.
  2. A wide range of leaflets on relevant topics. These include:
All of the National Kidney Federation leaflets that are not given out by renal staff to patients. They can be taken away free and will be replaced by Tyneside KPA.  However  the Association has to pay for new ones. The cost is written on the front and we would greatly appreciate a donation to help us run this service. A blue collection tin is in place for donations.
A variety of topical leaflets from different sources that are free.

  3.  Details of holiday providers for renal patients

  4.  The use of a computer to access online information

  5.  5 portable DVD players and DVDs on renal issues. These must be booked out through the RCIU and can only be used in the Resource Room or during haemodialysis.

Ordering National Kidney Federation Publications
Copies of the Booklet  listing all the NKF publications will be available for anyone who wants to order books or leaflets direct.

League of Friends Donation
We are extremely grateful to the League of Friends for a donation to cover the cost of books, NKF leaflets and 5 DVD players.
