Renal Services

The Freeman Hospital’s renal services are housed in the purpose-built Renal Services Centre at the rear of the hospital.

All haemodialysis treatment is provided here together with most inpatient and outpatient care in a modern and comfortable environment on Ward 31. The transplant unit is on Ward 38, also at the Freeman Hospital.

One of the largest centres in the UK for kidney healthcare, this facility offers:

– All Renal Services in one location at the Freeman Hospital

– A high-specification Haemodialysis Unit with 3 satalite units at Alnwick, North Tyneside and Team Valley Gateshead.

– A spacious quality feel ward 32 with over half the bedrooms single occupancy with en suite facilities

– A dedicated outpatient suite with Consultant-led, specialist clincs as well as improved patient information and educational materials.
