Tyneside Kidney Patients Association

The Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) is here to help when you need advice, want answers to questions, and want to know who to talk to or find out how to get guidance.
As a patient, relative or carer, sometimes you may need to ask someone for on-the-spot help, advice and support. This is where the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) comes in.
They provide confidential advice and support, helping you to sort out any concerns that you may have about any aspect of NHS care.
The service provides:
• Advice and support to patients, their families and carers
• Information on NHS services
• Help to sort out problems quickly on your behalf and listens to your concerns, suggestions or queries.
PALS acts independently when handling patient and family concerns, liaising with staff, managers and, where appropriate, relevant organisations, to negotiate prompt solutions. If necessary, we can also refer patients and families to specific local or national-based support agencies.
PALS are available Monday to Friday from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm. Outside of these hours, you can leave a message on an answer machine and you will be contacted the next working day.
