Renal Alert Wristbands
We have a range of specialist wristbands for kidney patients to protect them in an emergency. There are two sorts. Red ones for patients with a fistula used for haemodialysis and green ones for those who have a transplant.
The red fistula wristbands are for either the right or left arm. So for example the right arm wristband has RIGHT ARM FISTULA on one side and NO BP TESTING /NEEDLES. This is to protect the fistula from damage during an emergency by either pressure from blood pressure cuffs or careless needling. The green wristbands have KIDNEY TRANSPLANT on them to alert emergency services so care is taking with any medication.
There are 5 different sizes of wristbands available from 18cm to 26 cm. They are made of silicone rubber which is easily cleaned and sterilised. The lettering is embossed with white dye on the inset lettering that does not wear off.
Our Association was the first to introduce wristbands for kidney patients in 2010. Since then they have been copied and spread across Europe.
